The field of tissue engineering is developed to address the lack of tissue availability for transplantation and repair procedures. Group of researchers are working to grow functional engineered tissues for different organs repair such as arteries, vascular grafts, liver transplantation, spinal cord repair and immune engineering. Hence the tissue engineering brings together the researchers, scientists, engineers, physicians and surgeons to develop new methods to tissue replacement and repair.

Tissue repair refers to the replacement of destroyed tissue by living tissue and comprises two essential components Regeneration and Repair. The differentiation between the two is based on the resultant tissue. In Regeneration, specialized tissues are replaced by the proliferation of nearby undamaged specialized cells. In Repair, a lost tissue is substituted by granulation tissue which develops to form scar tissue. Recently researchers have described the ability of tissue-resident adult (somatic) stem cells to repopulate organs such as the liver and pancreas.

Nanotechnology is currently being utilized for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine which discusses the use of nanotechnology for medical applications with a focus on its use for drug delivery and tissue engineering. Nanostructures can mimic tissue-specific bio environments by designing constructs with biochemical, mechanical and electrical properties. Consequently, tissue can be engineered by employing these nanostructures for enhanced cell adhesion, growth, and differentiation. As the variety of tissues being proposed for engineering, there is also a proportional increase in demand for new scaffold properties.

3D bioprinting is mostly referred to as “bioprinting” which is the procedure that permits scientists to develop and gather cellular layers to form organic tissues. 3D printing has been already used by scientists to create prosthesis and custom implants by using metal or polymeric materials. The organic materials have been used for bioprinting and thus the created organ and tissues are both artificial and biological. The 3D bioprinting holds great potential for tissue science and regenerative medicine applications.

Regenerative rehabilitation is the amalgamation of regenerative biology with approaches for physical medicine. Examples of regenerative rehabilitation comprise the integration of physical activity to promote engraftment of stem cells into muscle tissue and the in vitro use of mechanical stimuli on cultured cells or tissues, to enhance the efficacy of cell therapeutics and tissue engineering technologies. The goal of regenerative rehabilitation is to develop innovative and effective methods that promote the restoration of function through tissue regeneration and repair.

Aging tissues experience a progressive deterioration in the homeostatic and the capacity of regeneration, which has been attributed to degenerative changes in tissue-specific stem cells, stem cell niches and systemic cues that regulate stem cell activity. With the help of the newest stem cell therapy techniques, regenerative medicine can help us efficiently to accomplish the aging process through hormone replacements, PRP therapy and stem cell treatment for anti-aging. With more than MSCCD 34+ stem cells which can help naturally to treat the areas of pain, effectually slow down the aging process.
